Large 4 Gallon, 19 tall, Antique Demijohn with a classic European bulbous shape. Light blue in color with no major chips or cracks. Some noticeable surface scratches relevant to its age. This bottle does not have a pontil scar & has crude mold marks on the sides. It is whittled in appearance, like rain drops rolling down a window.
It is hand blown and is not entirely symmetrical throughout the body. The neck sits with a slight lean to one side and it has a tooled applied lip.
All of these characteristics were not uncommon in bottles from Europe in the 1830s. Lots of tiny bubbles & some larger ones in the glass. Great addition to any collection or home interior. Please see photos for more detail. The item "Large 1830s Antique Demijohn Wine Bottle Hand Blown Glass" is in sale since Saturday, December 14, 2019.
